About the Farm
Background
In 2002-'03, Tyler spent a year at Polyface Farm in Virginia as an intern with sustainable farmer Joel Salatin. Upon returning to Corvallis, Oregon, he started Afton Field Farm on about 10 acres. Over the years, the farm has fluctuated in size and location, and is currently focused on raising poultry, with turkeys available for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Practices
All animals are raised on pasture or in the woods using Managed Intensive Rotational Grazing methods. The layer chickens, broiler chickens, and turkeys receive a significant portion of their diet from the pasture and woods, supplemented with a GMO-free, corn and soy-free custom grain ration. All poultry is processed on-farm.
The Rest
The farm markets to individual families in the Corvallis, Philomath, Albany area, and the greater mid-Willamette Valley area, including Portland. Tyler also provides consulting services for a fee.
