About the Farm
Background
Located in Dutchess County, New York, AKM Farm is owned and operated by Diane and Michael Massarone. The farm's name is derived from their three daughters: Amanda, Katelyn, and Melissa. Michael's background in dairy farming and participation in the Dutchess County 4-H Program, combined with Diane's love for Jersey cows, led to the creation of the dairy. The farm received its license to sell raw milk from New York State in April 2022.
Practices
AKM Farm places a high priority on the health and comfort of their cows. The Jersey cows are mainly grass-fed with some grain supplementation and have access to pasture. The farm meticulously manages cleanliness to ensure the cows are healthy and the milk is safe. The milking process is strictly monitored by the New York State Department of Ag and Markets, and the farm is enrolled in Quality Milk Production Services for regular pathogen testing. The farm also raises registered Alpine and Nubian dairy goats, which they show at various events.
The Rest
AKM Farm believes in the many benefits of raw milk, which they describe as a superfood containing active enzymes, beneficial bacteria, amino acids, omega-3 fatty acids, CLA, vitamins, immunoglobulins, minerals, and antioxidants. They emphasize the superior taste of raw milk compared to pasteurized milk, highlighting its rich, creamy, sweet, and delicious flavor.
