About the Farm
Background
Located on 20 acres of rolling pasture, woodland, and garden in the far northeast corner of Orange County, this farm is known for producing the finest meat in the Triangle area of North Carolina. The farm's products are available for home delivery, at the Carrboro Farmer’s Market, and select retailers and farm-to-table restaurants across the Triangle. The farm has a state-inspected facility for processing pasture-raised chickens, ensuring they are handled with respect and dignity.
Practices
The farm employs a leader-follower system to mimic natural ecosystems, enhancing land fertility and diversity. Ruminants mow down the grass, followed by poultry that scratch in the manure, eating flies, ticks, lice, and other pests. Pigs are rotated through the woods, turning over leaf duff and exposing the soil's seed bank to light and air, transforming the understory into a verdant environment. The farm measures success by the holistic health of livestock, soil fertility, ecosystem health, and the abundance and diversity of wild flora and fauna. Animals are pasture-raised, non-GMO, and never fed antibiotics, hormones, or unnecessary medications. The farm adheres to beyond organic and regenerative standards, using no chemicals or GMOs.
The Rest
The farm offers a variety of products including pasture-raised chickens, forest-raised pigs, Peking ducks, and free-range turkeys. Customers can purchase these products online for home delivery, at local farmers' markets, and from select retailers and fine dining establishments. The farm also offers a Meat CSA for repeat or bulk purchases.
