About the Farm
Background
In February of 2012, Dizzy Lizzie and Tractor Man purchased a house with a 102-acre plot of land, marking the beginning of their journey into farming. Initially, they homesteaded the land and tested the soils with assorted fruits and vegetables. By 2013, they opened their doors to the public, expanding their offerings to include increased garlic production, berries, and chickens. In 2014, the farm achieved organic certification and developed a perennial flower garden. The following year, they introduced three Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) offerings, which later evolved into 'garden start' preorders and flower CSA options. In 2016, they began producing value-added products, starting with garlic scape pestos and expanding to organic spices, candied peppers, jams, and relishes.
Practices
The farm adheres to NOFA-NY Certified Organic standards and participates in the Real Organic Project. They focus on growing heirloom and unusual vegetables, herbs, and plants while maintaining high-quality soil health and biodiversity. Their farming philosophy emphasizes the joy of fresh flowers and the importance of introducing diverse, healthy foods to the community.
The Rest
The farm offers a wide array of products including maple syrup, cut flowers, and value-added items such as pestos and spices. They also have a farm store and participate in local farmers markets. Testimonials from customers highlight the farm's welcoming atmosphere and high-quality products.
