About the Farm
Background
The journey began in 2012 with the purchase of a small herd of 5 Boer goats, driven by a desire to add something to the homestead that was larger than a chicken but smaller than a cow. Over the years, the herd has grown to about 20 'keeper' goats, with an additional 10+ raised for sale or consumption. The herd includes registered ABGA Fullbloods, a couple of dairy and dairy/Boer crosses, and a Purebred descended from the original does.
Practices
The goats are raised on a diet of grass and weeds, ensuring they are all-natural and GMO-free. The majority of the does kid in March, with kids typically weaned by June, although some does kid at other times of the year, leading to varied availability. Detailed management practices are available on their website.
The Rest
The farm is located in Deposit, NY, and is known for breeding Boer goats with 'old style' structure and productive qualities. The goats are handled by the family, including Tim, Rachel, and their four children.
