About the Farm
Background
Good Earth Farms is an extension of a third-generation family farm started by Marvin Lensing in 1950. The farm became organic in the year 2000 under the leadership of Marvin's son Roy and his wife Sandy. In 2021, the farm transitioned to Roy's son Kurt and his wife Megan who are currently operating Good Earth Farms. The farm is known for its commitment to organic production and maintaining traditional values such as stewardship for the Earth, honoring their faith, and raising strong families.
Practices
The farm employs an Intensive Rotational Grazing system to ensure that their herd and flocks graze on lush, tender pastures grown from soils receiving only natural amendments like compost, green manures, and minerals. Their cows live a stress-free life with access to wide open spaces, clean air, and freshwater sources. They are never given antibiotics, hormones, or unnatural additives. The farm is committed to maintaining water quality and uses regenerative farming practices to keep the landscape intact, minimize erosion, and maintain a balanced ecosystem. Additionally, they recycle as much as possible and use 100% recyclable packaging, working towards biodegradable plastics for meat packages.
The Rest
The farm's beef is processed in a USDA Inspected butcher shop and packaged in easy-to-use portions, while their poultry is processed in a USDA inspected facility and offered in various cuts. The farm also hosts bee hives and is active on social media, sharing updates and engaging with their community. Customers can purchase their products through their online store.
