About the Farm
Background
The Johnson Poultry Farms have been in business since 1927. In 2001, they completed the building of a new state-inspected processing plant where they custom process poultry for the public and their fresh turkeys.
Practices
The poultry is raised outdoors but provided shelter to protect them from the weather. The farming methods mirror those of the owner's grandparents, ensuring a traditional approach. All meat is hormone and antibiotic-free, and the farm raises and makes all of its own feed. The farm operates a state-inspected poultry processing plant and offers custom processing services for most poultry except waterfowl.
The Rest
Chickens are available in the spring and fall, while turkeys are available for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The farm sells to both individuals and businesses and provides processing services while customers wait. Bags and ice are available to maintain the safest possible environment for the birds after they are home.
