About the Farm
Background
Located at the intersection of Lancaster's beautiful farming country and the recent suburb expansion, this vegetable farm has been the sole enterprise of a family for 30 years. The farm is a three-generation family business consisting of Earl and Joyce, their son Dwain and Audrey, and their family. They were certified organic for over 15 years beginning in the early '90s, helping to develop the Certified Organic label in Pennsylvania as charter members of Pennsylvania Certified Organic. Since then, their focus on 'Green Everyday' animal management has taken them above and beyond organic certification standards.
Practices
Deeply committed to regenerative soil building practices and organic methods, the farm's philosophy centers on creating soil health, which generates plant and animal health. All animals are raised outdoors on pasture and regularly moved to fresh grass. Feed supplementation is GMO-free, with some chickens and all turkeys being soy-free. Animals do not receive growth hormones or antibiotics. The farm avoids all insecticides, herbicides, and paraciticides, focusing instead on well-mineralized soil to create the best-tasting fruits and vegetables possible, offering optimal nutrition.
The Rest
Livengood vegetables and meats are offered at the Clark Park farmers' market as well as directly from the farm. The farm's herds and flocks help local landowners maintain their beautiful landscapes in farming. Customers are encouraged to visit the farm for personal verification of their Beyond Organic practices. The farm also offers an easy-to-use online store for ordering, with pick-up available on the farm and at the Clark Park Farmer’s Market in Philadelphia. Testimonials from satisfied customers highlight the quality and flavor of the farm's produce and meats, as well as the farm's commitment to organic and regenerative practices.
