About the Farm
Background
Since 1945, a family has been raising beef in the Ozark highlands, just a short drive from St. Louis. The farm spans over 900 acres of rolling hills, with the Meremac River splitting the property. For the past twenty years, beef cattle have been the primary focus, with a small meat goat herd added in the last three years. The farm has transitioned to marketing directly to the public over the past three years, continuing a tradition of providing livelihood for multiple generations.
Practices
Utilizing extensive rotational grazing techniques, the cattle are fed only grass and mother's milk, avoiding grain or by-products. The farm ensures the beef is free of antibiotics, steroids, and growth hormones. The animals are processed at about one year of age, resulting in lean, tender meat. The beef is dry-aged and processed in a USDA inspected facility, ensuring quality and safety. The farm emphasizes humane and ethical treatment of animals, maintaining 100% traceability from birth to processing.
The Rest
Customers can purchase whole and half beeves with custom cuts packages available. Most customers pick up their beef directly from the processor, but delivery to the St. Louis area and shipping via Fed-Ex or UPS for long-distance orders are also offered. The farm accepts most major credit cards and encourages inquiries via their website or toll-free number. Health benefits of grass-fed beef include higher levels of omega-3, CLA, and vitamins. Cooking tips are provided to maximize enjoyment of the grass-fed meat.
