About the Farm
Background
In 2011, the family began selling the products they enjoyed themselves. Benjamin and his sister Rebekah completed an internship at Polyface Farm in 2015, learning from Joel and Daniel Salatin. They applied many of these lessons upon returning home. Today, Benjamin, his wife Lydia, and their four children manage daily operations, with Rebekah working part-time and handling many deliveries.
Practices
The farm practices rotational grazing for their poultry, allowing birds to live healthy, clean lives without medications, antibiotics, or hormones. Pigs are raised in wooded paddocks that are frequently rotated, enabling them to roam, forage, and root. All animals are supplemented with non-GMO feed sourced from a Mennonite mill in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. The farm emphasizes producing high-quality, nutritious, and great-tasting food while being good stewards of the land.
The Rest
The farm encourages customers to ask questions about how their food is raised and to build relationships with local farmers. They offer home delivery and have pickup locations in Richmond, Williamsburg, Newport News, Yorktown, Gloucester, Hampton, Mathews, and Middlesex.
