About the Farm
Background
Located in the rolling hills of East Central Minnesota, Real Food Ranch LLC is known for its commitment to raising nutrient-dense, organic food. The farm specializes in 100% grass-fed beef, heritage breed pigs, and free-range chickens, offering a variety of meat options to cater to different tastes and nutritional needs.
Practices
The farm employs a rotational grazing system during the summer months, allowing cattle to graze on a natural mix of pasture grasses and drink clean water in a fresh paddock daily. In winter, the cattle are fed local hay. No hormones or antibiotics are ever administered to the animals. Heritage breed pigs are raised on fresh pasture, sunshine, and clean water, with paddocks rotated regularly. The pigs contribute to soil and compost turnover. Free-range chickens are moved to a new patch of grass daily, where they forage for bugs, greens, and seeds, supplemented by unmedicated feed from local sources.
The Rest
Beef is available in the fall, and customers can reserve a quarter, half, or whole animal. Pork is also available by the half or whole animal in the fall, and whole, frozen chickens are offered. The farm is managed by Andy and Renee Crisman.
