About the Farm
Background
Founded in 2017 by a veteran, this micro-farm is located just outside the city limits of Hastings on Star School Road. By 2020, it had already marked its fourth year at the Hastings Farmers Market. The farm is known for its focus on Baby Greens, Romaine and Leaf Lettuce, Root Vegetables, and Leafy Greens, along with seasonal items like Tomatoes, Peppers, Cucumbers, Garlic, and Zucchini.
Practices
The farm employs a Permanent Bed System to minimize soil disturbance and promote soil health and biology. Avoiding the use of a tractor, all field operations are performed manually. As a Certified Naturally Grown farm, it adheres to standards equivalent to those of the National Organic Program, using no synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, or GMOs.
The Rest
The farm aims to foster a sense of community and promote the benefits of eating local, emphasizing respectful stewardship of the land.
