About the Farm
Background
Betsy and Jack, frustrated by the lack of meat raised without shortcuts, founded a hobby farm to feed their family, which eventually grew into TC Farm, a collective of over 700 member families dedicated to raising high-quality food. They deliver their products monthly across the greater Twin Cities metro area and offer their pork at Valley Natural Foods in Burnsville.
Practices
All animals are raised on green growing pasture with at least 50% green growing forage during the entire growing season. For animals living longer than one growing season, winter access to pasture is encouraged, with hay provided in the winter. Although they follow almost all organic standards, they prioritize animal welfare and support Minnesota farmers transitioning to organic production by purchasing transition organic grains at a premium. They do not certify their meat organic due to disagreements with certain USDA organic requirements.
The Rest
TC Farm offers a variety of products including pasture-raised eggs, organic-fed chicken, 100% grass-fed beef and lamb, no-soy grass-fed pork, heritage turkey, organic spiced sausages, no-sugar deli meats, and warm and serve meals. They also provide farm tours a couple of times a year to showcase their farming practices.
