About the Farm

Background

The farm is a 7th generation family heirloom, settled in 1828. In 2007, they began producing pastured poultry, adding pastured pork in 2008, grass-fed beef in 2009, and Thanksgiving turkeys in 2010. By 2018, they were producing about 2,000 pastured broilers, 125 Thanksgiving turkeys, 75 forest-raised hogs, and finishing 24 head of cattle per year.

Practices

The farm's pasture areas are 100% chemical, pesticide, and herbicide-free. Their cattle are 100% grass-fed and finished, never given any grain. All grains used to feed animals are GMO-free and/or USDA Certified Organic, and only USDA Certified Organic vitamin and mineral supplements are used in grain mixes. Animals are treated humanely with access to clean water, fresh air, and plenty of sunshine. Meats are pasture-raised and animals are moved frequently to fresh grazing areas. Antibiotics and vaccinations are never administered except as a life-saving measure. The farm employs sustainable, low-energy input farming methods that heal the land.

The Rest

Customers are welcome to visit by appointment to explore the farm and ask questions. The farm strives to exceed various certification standards and promises not to sell any food they wouldn't feed their own children. While some components of the farming operation are certified organic, the finished products are not USDA certified organic. The farm also offers a recipe box with home-cooked meal ideas and sends out newsletters with product availability, recipes, and food-related news.
