About the Farm

Background

Over the past 9 years, Skarsgard Farms has evolved to meet the changing face of agriculture in the greater Albuquerque area. Initially established as a traditional CSA, the farm quickly adapted to meet the needs of its members by creating a more flexible and inclusive model. This new approach allows for year-round availability of produce by partnering with growers in neighboring states, thus transforming the community into a regional network.

Practices

In the South Valley of Los Padillas, Skarsgard Farms cultivates a diverse array of crops on 36 acres of productive farmland. The farm's commitment to organic practices ensures that all produce is Certified Organic. By collaborating with regional growers, the farm mitigates the limitations imposed by New Mexico's growing seasons, ensuring a continuous supply of fresh produce. The farm also runs a 6-month internship program to educate and train individuals passionate about sustainable agriculture.

The Rest

Skarsgard Farms offers a highly customizable CSA model where members can order online, choosing from a wide variety of produce, meats, dairy, baked goods, and pantry staples. Members pay per order, not per season, allowing for flexibility without long-term commitments. This model supports local farmers by increasing their sales and connecting them with a broader customer base. The farm's efforts help the entire community thrive by fostering connections among suppliers and ensuring mutual support.
