About the Farm

Background

The farm has faced challenges such as hot weather affecting cold season vegetables, but has persevered with a variety of crops including tomatoes, potatoes, grapes, garlic, and squash. They have developed a unique hybrid squash called 'Blondie,' which is in its third generation of seed production.

Practices

Natural growing techniques include frog pond development for pest control, biochar for soil supplementation, and the use of insects for composting and chicken feed. The farm uses straw to manage weeds and maintain soil moisture, and practices crop rotation and seed production to enhance pest resistance and crop quality.

The Rest

The farm offers CSA shares in full, half, and mini sizes from Spring through mid-Winter, with limited availability. Eggs are available in Summer and Fall, while bread, made from home-ground wheat and wild yeast, is available year-round. Varieties include whole wheat and multigrain, with additional types available at the Friday PCFB Farmers Market in Dallas from April through November.
