About the Farm
Background
Upon moving to Virginia, the founders sought high-quality raw milk but found the available options lacking in flavor and quality. Drawing on their experience with organic grazing dairies, they started their herdshare program 12 years ago to provide better raw milk. The farm is known for its tasty, A2A2 raw milk, which is bottled in reusable glass bottles and remains sweet for at least 10 days.
Practices
The cows are raised on a rotational grazing system, moving every 12 hours to fresh pastures of annual and perennial forages. They are treated with herbs and homeopathy when needed, and the milking practices and equipment are meticulously maintained for cleanliness. During milking, cows receive a small amount of locally grown, non-GMO grain. The farm grows all of the herd's winter feed, ensuring it is non-GMO and not sprayed with chemicals.
The Rest
Shares are delivered weekly to various drop sites across Southwest Virginia, including cities like Afton, Belmont, Blacksburg, Charlottesville, and more. The herdshare program supports the mission to provide families with high-quality raw milk while restoring the land. Members own part of the herd and can choose their weekly milk quantity, with services billed in four-week increments.
