About the Farm

Background

Since 1966, the farm has been a family-run operation, officially certified organic in 1979 after beginning organic practices in 1967. In 2014, the farm was preserved with the Simsbury Land Trust and includes land on Old Farms Rd and Quarry Rd in Simsbury. Daren Hall, George Hall’s nephew, along with his wife Janet and their three children, currently manage the farm.

Practices

The farm adheres to organic farming methods, ensuring that produce is grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. With over 50 acres dedicated to vegetable production, the farm emphasizes the importance of harvesting produce at its peak freshness and nutritional value. They also offer an internship program for those interested in learning more about organic farming practices.

The Rest

The farm offers a Summer CSA program from mid-June to October and a Winter CSA program in November and December. CSA pickups are held at the farm, allowing members to select their produce market-style. Additionally, the farm participates in several Farmer’s Markets during the season and plans to launch an online store soon.
