About the Farm

Background

Founded as a grassroots organization, Huerta Del Valle serves the Inland Empire region of Southern California. It is known for its network of urban farms and community gardens aimed at creating an equitable food system. The vision is to establish a garden for every square mile of residential space from Temecula to Needles, ensuring that fresh, local, and sustainably produced food is accessible to everyone.

Practices

The garden employs integrated pest management practices and produces its own compost to nourish crops, ensuring the produce is free from pesticides and chemicals. The organization emphasizes education on ecology, sustainability, and nutrition through agricultural programs. It also focuses on creating agricultural careers and leadership opportunities for both adults and youth, promoting economic and environmental justice through replicable local practices.

The Rest

Huerta Del Valle offers a CSA program where members can subscribe to receive a box of produce every other week, containing a mix of fruits, vegetables, and herbs. The produce is available for purchase at the garden during operational hours, and delivery is available to several cities in the Inland Empire. The organization also welcomes volunteers who can trade service hours for produce or complete community service requirements. The mission extends beyond food production to include community empowerment, health, and education.
