About the Farm
Background
Olde Reminisce Farms is home to The Historic USA Herd of Kunekune Pigs, known for their midsized heritage hogs that thrive on grass with minimal supplementation. Recently, most of the Kunekune herd has been moved to Amy's Farm nearby.
Practices
The farm employs 'small batch swinery' and 'terroir breeding' to produce pork that reflects the specific location in Southern California. Pigs are raised outdoors, fed organic feeds and pasture, and supplemented with hay when necessary. They use the least invasive rearing methods possible and source organic feeds locally from American Farm & Larder. Additionally, the pigs enjoy treats like apples and acorns from nearby mountain areas, enhancing the flavor of their pork.
The Rest
Chefs and restaurant owners are encouraged to explore the use of Kunekune Pork in traditional artisan charcuterie or seasonal menu offerings. The farm sells breeding stock, meat pigs, and offers various sizes of pigs for different culinary needs, including whole hogs, suckling pigs, oven roasters, BBQ pigs, and spit hogs.
