About the Farm
Background
Years ago, the founders became frustrated with the quality of food in local supermarkets and sought out responsibly-produced, 'real' foods for their family and friends. Their search led them to farmers markets and small farms, but the time commitment was overwhelming. In July 2010, they joined a small food co-op in Durham, NC, which provided high-quality products that significantly improved their health. When the original coordinator could no longer manage the group, the founders took over, set up an email account, created mailing lists, and customized a website to grow the cooperative.
Practices
The cooperative emphasizes sourcing raw dairy products from camel, cow, goat, and sheep, as well as grassfed beef, pork, rabbit, and free-range poultry. All prepared items follow recipes from the book 'Nourishing Traditions,' ensuring traditional and nutrient-dense food preparation methods. The focus is on providing high-quality, responsibly-produced foods that promote health and well-being.
The Rest
Membership is currently being built in various areas, with food delivered from out-of-state to each drop location. The cooperative offers a wide range of products including cultured vegetables, honey, syrups, breads, noodles, nuts, and more. Drop locations and schedules are provided for convenience, ensuring members receive their orders every four weeks.
